Strategic Communication

Ankrom Moisan

Challenge

Ankrom Moisan Architects staked its headquarters and its reputation on 38 Davis, the first new ground-up construction in Portland's Old Town Chinatown in a decade, while media coverage remained skeptical about the neighborhood's prospects.

Approach

Amico developed messaging that acknowledged community concerns while positioning Ankrom Moisan as a proven urban renewal leader, drawing parallels to the firm's role in transforming the Pearl District. Media placements emphasized intentional design, historic alignment, and 38 Davis's distinction as Portland's first LEED v4 Platinum building.

Outcome

Old Town has since attracted three major developments, and Ankrom Moisan has gone on to complete more than 50 mixed-use projects. The effort earned a PRSA Oregon Spotlight Award for Media Relations.

Cadet Manufacturing

Challenge

When Cadet Manufacturing's 87-year-old founder sold his Vancouver, Washington company to a global Irish firm in 2016, the risk of losing employees and customers was real. The transition required a communications strategy as careful as the deal itself.

Approach

Amico developed a sequenced rollout that reached employees first through multilingual materials and an all-company meeting, then customers and vendors within the hour through scripted calls and pre-set meetings. Targeted media placements, including an embargoed interview with the local daily, reinforced the continuity message publicly.

Outcome

All but two of 109 employees remained through 2017, with 29 more added. Cadet has since rebranded as Glen Dimplex Americas, and revenue has since exceeded $50 million. The effort earned a PRSA Oregon Spotlight Award for Integrated Communications.
